I joined BBGR in 1980 when it was the manufacturing arm of Dollond & Aitchison. I intended to stay for 3 weeks to earn money for college. I started in the glazing department and when computers started to be introduced in to manufacturing, I moved in to IT.
I joined BBGR in February 2014 previously I was working in Opticians as an optical consultant, where I was communicating on a daily basis with BBGR. I quickly came to learn about its culture and reputation and joined because I thought it would give me a wider insight (excuse the pun) into eye health.
I joined BBGR in April 2011 – this was the time when a new contract had just become active – the prospect of being a part of the team that delivered against our tough contractual commitments was very exciting!
I joined BBGR in 2013, as I knew that with the wealth of my experience I had a lot to offer to drive the HR agenda and take on a new approach to HR & engagement. I liked the idea of working with a small team as part of a large brand, and was drawn by the company values, the variety of the role and the innovative products.
I joined BBGR in April 2010; I have worked in optics since 1988 the majority in practice covering all roles from Dispenser to optometry manager. I felt it was time for a new challenge and having never worked in manufacturing working for BBGR enabled me to go in a new direction. My working hours also enables me to have a good work life balance.
As one of the world’s largest manufacturer of optical lenses, the company is an industry leader in research and development. It continues to grow and it provides interesting and exciting challenges, as it releases new products.
As part of the Essilor Group for the better part of a decade, I joined BBGR in March 2011 because I knew that it was at the beginning of a journey, and that there would be opportunity to grow and develop personally, and help the business grow.
I joined BBGR in June 2007 after reading the Job Specification in my local staff agency, it asked if I wanted a role that had many challenges and many opportunities, and I can say I haven’t been disappointed. I started here as a Logistics technician and from day one I was told that I could make the job as interesting and as challenging as I wanted to. In 2009 there was an opening as a Logistics Team Leader so I applied for the Job and was successful in my application.
